I love this album!!!♥
This is one of those few albums that I love each and every one of the songs in it… and even though I'm familiar with this album long ago, I never get sick of it…

| crazy computer problems |
[juil. 25e, 2008|03:11 pm] |

It was gloriously sunny yesterday in Bristol. I decided to go because I had never been. It is nicer than I expected. Lots of university types milling around looking quite attractive, I have to say! I had Nandos for lunch. It is a goal of mine to sample the wonder in as many different towns as I can. I'm doing well. For dinner I ate take-away sushi in the middle of a bustling street. I went shopping and couldn't resist buying a lovely Karen Millen skirt that looks much like a tablecloth.
( I also had a lot of fun at the zoo )
I also spent this week at the old school. Two of my very good friends are leaving and I helped to sort out their classrooms. I wanted to say goodbye to the children because they are so wicked. I even got some presents which is quite strange as they didn't know I was coming!
On Wednesday, Amy and I watched Wall E. It was so long and made me a little teary but I loved it! After we went to Transmisson . The staff were so nice and they gave us free drinks and a nice goody bag. I had a crazy vodka drink that made me feel a little sick so I left it behind some boxes so as not to seem ungrateful. Lauren Laverne looked so lovely and Steve Jones is just massive. Primal Scream, Crystal Castles and Annie, played. So did Sam Sparro who completely offends with his entire self. Alice Cooper and Patsy Kensit bored the life out of me with their inane interviews. Yes, it is their fault.
Later today, we are going to watch BATMAN and dance our heads off at Islington Academy. |

| painting cords |
[juil. 25e, 2008|09:46 am] |
Have a weird question for you all. Is there any reason you shouldn't spray-paint electrical cords? I have Christmas lights wrapped in ivy and silk flowers around the ceiling in my home office/craft room. I'd like to tone it down a little, keep the lights but lose the ivy and flowers. I like the amount of light in that area, and the only other way to get diffuse overhead light like that is to install lights in the ceiling, which is a whole lot more money than I can really afford. So I thought, maybe do something with ribbon to hide the ugly cords. But it would really help if the light string didn't have dark green cord. I'd like to spray-paint them white so that they blend a bit better.

| Random journaling thoughts/questions |
[juil. 25e, 2008|09:08 am] |
Last night I had to go a-hunting for a new writing journal. And FYI, I keep three, one for journaling about everyday stuff, one for writing exercises and ideas, and one for weight loss.
Anyhow, I went to both Barnes and Noble and Borders looking for one and I found that I really don't like it when journals have flourishes on the pages inside, and it seemed they all did. Even the really fancy leather journals have the company watermark on them. Am I the only one who finds that distracting and bothersome? I don't like having anyone else's creative mark on a page, even if all I'm doing is scribbling down bits of stories.
I also had a couple of questions:
1. If I were to sell off some of my other journals that I bought but no longer have any interest in using, would anyone here want to purchase them? I'd basically sell them for way less than I got them for, and whatever the cost of mailing them is.
2. Has anyone here made the transition from lined to unlined pages? I'm still trying to get used to using a blank journal without lines after years of using lined pages.
3. Anyone got any special methods for motivating yourself? I've missed a few days for lack of enthusiasm and a feeling of deep down blah. I really want to keep going, and wondered what people here use for inspiration. |

Hi, I haven't posted here in a while, but several months ago I solicited for a zine I'm putting together called "Girls and Cars". I've received lots of great submissions and accepted several but I just haven't had the time or the Something to finish the project.
Would anybody be interested in taking over? I'd like you to honor the acceptances I've already sent out, other than that you have free rein. You can format and organize the zine any way you like, solicit, accept and reject more submissions, write your own stuff to be included. I have a few stories I'd like to submit but I'd feel funny submitting them to myself so maybe you could pick one or two to include. Let me know if you'd like to take a look at what I've got so far. If you print it you can charge whatever the going rate is and keep the money as long as you give me 5 or 6 copies. If I print it, I'll give you as many copies as you want, which you can distribute as you see fit.
Here's more about me and my writing. It has a link to the call for submissions.
Thanks! |

| Cupcakes! |
[juil. 25e, 2008|12:41 pm] |
On Wednesday I had a tea party. Twas indeed an impossibly girly affair with lace table cloth, pink china, cut glass and cupcakes. We indulged in rose petal sandwiches, the teeniest bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese, rose soda, pink fizz, rose tea (enough of the roses already!) and a wonderful array of colourful cupcakes - Cherry and Geranium, Banana and Toffee, Peppermint and Chocolate and Lemon and Lavender.

I received an abudance of lovely gifts too. Marshia brought me beautiful sweet peas from her garden, Maureen gave me this stunning hydrangea, Jackie gifted me a lovely pink glass bottle and Becky brough scrummy sweet bites and strawberries.

Mozza schemes to devour all the cupcakes.

Needless to say, once the pink wine came out the civility of the occasion degenerated quite quickly and soon we had slipped off our dainty shoes to deal with the intense heat and were having bawdy debates and cackling like witches. Hurrah! A wonderful time was had and I even gave out goody bags at the end that contained tiny tiaras, forsooth!
Yesterday was glorious and so to make the most of actually having some sun, I had my tea in the park and read.
A naughty doggy finished off the remains of my sandwich.

Finished reading The Master and Margarita" which is a wonderful book. Highly recommended.

Also this week I watched Terry Gilliam's Tideland (a Mitch Cullin book). Just so, so wrong.

| Used VHS usagés à Montréal |
[juil. 25e, 2008|03:23 am] |
Are there still stores that sell VHS movies in Montréal? I'm looking for a film that's not out in DVD, and before trying to buy it online I'd like to make sure there isn't a copy of it hiding in a store somewhere I don't know about in town.
The only two places where I've seen (used) VHS for sale lately were in the basement of the Marché du Disque on Mont-Royal, where a couple of tapes were still gathering dust, and at the Librairie Québécoise, on Ste-Catherine. And neither store had the movie I'm looking for.
Does anyone know of other places that still sell VHS films?
The film I'm looking for is Monolith (1993), starring Bill Paxton. It's a science-fiction film that I'd really like to rewatch even though it's not especially good. In English, preferably, though I wouldn't pass up a French dubbed version. |

| summer |
[juil. 25e, 2008|07:08 am] |
It's early morning and the sky is hot-blue, but so far it's still cool and a breeze is floating through the window above my desk. It makes the the net curtains billow and bulge towards me, and sink back down again every minute. There is a glass of water on my windowsill and as the net curtains glide past they brush the top and make crisp ringing music. In the background a pigeion says coocooo-who coocooo-who coocooo-who softly over and over again. |
